Evening of local goodwill

DURSLEY was filled with festive cheer last Thursday for the town's annual Goodwill Evening.

Festivities for the event, which was organised by Dursley Chamber of Trade and Commerce, started when celebrity guest Father Christmas switched on the Christmas lights around the town hall.

Activities around the town hall included children's rides, stalls, jugglers and unicyclists.

Pupils from Cam Woodfield Primary School's choir entertained the crowd and Father Christmas greeted his tiny guests in his grotto at toy shop Starshine.

Silla King, vice president of the Chamber of Trade, said the event went well.

"I think it went very well and everybody who came to the event seemed to enjoy it," she said.

"There was a good turn out in the town hall for the singing and Father Christmas did well in his grotto. The general atmosphere in the town was very good.

"I think the shops did well but it is a Goodwill Evening so it is not all about making money."
