ALL the major football sides in the Gazette area have something to play for going into 2006.
While Slimbridge may have fallen out of contention in the Hellenic Premier Division, they are still going strong Hellenic Challenge Cup, the Floodlit Cup and the GFA Trophy.
In contrast, Gloucestershire County League side Wotton Rovers have not yet taken a single point this season and must start to win soon or their relegation back to the Northern Senior League would surely become a formality.
In the first division of the NSL, Kingswood, Cam, Berkeley and Sharpness lie in consecutive places in the top half of the league.
Should any one of them put a good run together over the next few months then they would certainly be in the shake-up for honours at the end of the season.
All four sides are also still involved in at least one cup each.
Dursley Town are still in the county cup but the NSL Two side would surely much prefer to gain promotion to the division above and enjoy all the local clashes that such a promotion would bring.
Meanwhile, Charfield are enjoying their best campaign for a couple of years and will be hounding Dursley themselves.
In the Stroud League, Slimbridge Reserves will hope that they can maintain their form and make it into the Northern Senior League, while Coaley Rovers are very well placed to take the Division Two title.
Kingswood Reserves will fancy their chances of lifting the Division Five championship, while AC Royals, Charfield thirds and the BA Rangers will do battle for the honours and local pride in Division Seven.
