Art exhibition explores many facets of the human form

TWO exhibitions take place at Prema, in Uley, opening on January 9.

Painter Paul Fowler studied at High Wycombe College of Art - although specialising in textiles, he spent the majority of his time in the fine art department, life drawing.

He relocated to Gloucestershire in 1997 and now combines strong, bold figurative work with a touch of the abstract and conceptual. The series of paintings to be shown at Prema explores and celebrates many facets of the human form.

Paul Fowler's work has been exhibited in Bath Abbey and Gloucester Cathedral as well as many galleries throughout London, Switzerland and Germany. Paul will also be leading some of the sessions in Prema's new Exploring Painting course on Thursday evenings.

The second exhibition at the centre features beautiful contemporary jewellery by Anji-Jane Cutler. She trained at the Wales Institute of Art and Design and has, for more than ten years, been concentrating on her studio work as well as curating exhibitions and passing on her skills to adults and young people in schools and workshops.

For this show, Anji has broadened her range of source materials to include painted aluminium, found objects (crisp packets, drink cans and sweet papers) and beads.

Her work is stunning and very desirable. She will also be running an eight-week course at Prema on Monday evenings.
