• Future of schools

  I AM writing to address some of the points made in the consultation paper on the future of the schools in Yate and Chipping Sodbury. Little was said in the public meetings about the cost of the options. One is left with the impression that Option D (to keep all three schools open) takes significant money from other schools in the authority, whilst the other options are all affordable. But, this is not the case. read more

• Taking matters into their hands

  RESIDENTS living near Abbotswood Shopping Centre, in Yate, have long been blighted with graffiti, vandalism and youths behaving anti-socially. The few shops and take-away restaurants are a hang-out for bored youngsters who are blamed for causing trouble and making the lives of young parents and elderly residents an unnecessary hassle.
