Tragedy of fire

IN THE light of the very tragic death of a Dursley pensioner last week, being a pensioner myself and living in a mobile home at Berkeley Vale Park, I am extremely fearful that a similar catastrophe could easily occur here, again. Someone actually died in a fire a few years ago, their home went up rapidly, spreading to the next unit.

The park owners are fully aware of the over crowded, sometimes double parking practices. Rules state 'one car per unit'. Unfortunately some residents have two and even three vehicles parked on the site. There have been many complaints but as expected here, the 'can't be bothered' attitude kicks in.

The entrance is more than often littered with cars and vans because of the lack of parking facilities, not only causing immeasurable difficulties for 'one vehicle' occupants, particularly in the evenings, but also creating possible serious consequences should the fire and ambulance services need to be called. Cars often block pathways, which is against fire regulations anyhow.

There has been much discussion about setting up a residents' association which would, I'm sure, be beneficial to all concerned.
