Dursley kicked into submission by battling Brockworth

Gloucestershire League Division Two Brockworth 26 Dursley 16

A SLOW start cost Dursley the chance of doing a league double over Brockworth.

Dursley's superior fitness ensured a strong finish but the Stinchcombe outfit left it just a little too late to take the points against a much-improved Brockworth side.

The visitors welcomed back stalwarts Darren Noble and Nicholas Hull after injury but the former limped off in the second half due to the recurrence of an old ankle injury.

After conceding two soft tries early in the game, Dursley were always under pressure to get themselves back into the match.

They completely dominated the set pieces, putting the Gloucester outfit under considerable pressure and scoring a pushover try on one such occasion.

The maroon and golds once again outscored their opponents in the try department by three to two but Brockworth had their prolific kicker to thank for 16 of their 26 points, while Dursley once again struggled with their shots at goal.

Despite the defeat, it was a much more spirited performance from all involved with special praise required of the young halfback pairing of Lister and Oldham, who stepped in at the eleventh hour to help out.

Tomorrow Dursley host the league's bottom side Smiths Industries at Stinchcombe. All support for the side would be very welcome.
