Oldlands hand out 2005 season awards

OLDLANDS Cricket Club held their 2005 season presentation night at the Salmon Inn.

Their season went down to the wire with Charfield's win over Stinchcombe denying Oldlands promotion on the final day of the season.

After a rousing speech by club veteran Jason Savage, Buster Pennington presented the awards.

Doug Walton received the special award, Ade Sherman received the second XI player of the year and Nick Grove took first team player of the year. Clubman of the year went to Ricky Hewer for his work preparing the wickets throughout the season.

The coming season sees the debut of Oldlands second XI in league action after two years of friendly matches.

The decision was made to join the league to help bring on the younger players and new players to compete for enjoyment and then on to pushing for first team places.

Net sessions commence at Rednock on the first Sunday in March.

The club would like to thank The Salmon Inn for their hospitality throughout the season and DJ Bricklaying for their continued sponsorship.
