Double delivery of twins

A FARMER had a shock last weekend when he helped to deliver two sets of twins.

Phil Ryme owns and runs Elcombe Farm in Uley and amazingly on Sunday evening two of his cattle both gave birth to twins.

Mr Ryme already has an 80-strong herd at his dairy farm north of Dursley but was not prepared for the four new arrivals.

He said: "We had no idea both cows were expecting twins because unlike sheep they don't get scanned."

However, Mr Ryme said he was delighted about the deliveries.

He said: "They were female which means they will help replenish stock."

Mothers and babies are reported to be doing well.
