A STUDENT from Katharine Lady Berkeley's School, Liz Seabrook, has won first prize in Gloucestershire's Young Photographer of the Year 2006 competition.
And North Nibley C of E Primary School was named as the Best School Entry, with Tom Barker winning second prize for his Blending Colours photograph and Lucy Timbrell being highly commended for her picture titled You're Going Down.
Cam Everlands pupil Rebekah Marrow was highly commended for Keeping Warm.
All the winning photographs and other entries can be seen in an exhibition at the Pittville Pump Room, Cheltenham.
This is open daily from 10am to 4pm (except Tuesdays) until Saturday, February 25. Admission is free.
Entries from 31 schools and more than 200 photographs were received from all over Gloucestershire for this year's competition.
The annual competition is organised by Cheltenham Camera Club and sponsored by the Arts Council.
The competition is judged by local photographers Godfrey Outram, David Hyett and president of the Midland Counties Photographic Federation Wendy Outram.
Subjects range from pets to school activities, from aircraft to the Atlas Mountains. Organiser Martin Fry said: "The quality of the children's photos, especially the wide range of subject matter and the variety of viewpoints used, is wonderful.
"The advent of digital photography has really made a great difference, enabling all to take part in this fantastic interest. The competition really does show that everybody can capture those magical moments."
