Help run Synwell

SYNWELL Playing Field has been managed by a committee of local volunteers ever since it was purchased by public subscription back in the 1930s. It is one of very few independently run fields left in the country and is the only playing field at present in the town.

The committee meets ten times a year at the Pavilion Sports and Social Club with the aim of maintaining the field, its football facilities and the play equipment. The field provides a vital open space for Wotton's children and young people, which is especially valuable in the present climate of concerns relating to childhood obesity and other health issues.

Many of the present committee members have been involved for a good number of years and there is a pressing need for fresh input from new members. The committee would especially like to see parents of young children joining, so that their views can be known and the future of the field safeguarded.

If you would like to be involved in this valuable local amenity then please come along to the annual general meeting on Wednesday, March 15 (8pm) in the club room of the Sports and Social Club at the field. For further information please contact either Julia Fry on 01453 843972 or Mary Fowles on 843799.
