Pies win the best in Britain prize for butcher Zoe

A CAM butcher has been crowned queen of the pork pie makers after scooping a prestigious national award.

Zoe Ball, who works at Cam Family Butchers, won the Meat Trade Journal Pie Evaluation Diamond Award - otherwise known as the national champion of pork pie makers.

She received the accolade on Sunday, March 19 at the Foodex Meatex trade show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.

She said: "I guess it's the love we put into each pie that sets them apart. We always use free range pork and mix it with our special recipe - giving them an edge."

The shop is no stranger to titles, having previously won national awards for its sausages.

Editor of the Meat Trade Journal Fred A'Court, said: "Zoe's diamond winning pork pie entry proved to be a perfect balance between top quality meat and ingredients and a well made pastry.
