ORGANISERS of Uley's Easter fair have reported a record profit to help in their fundraising bid to extend the local village hall.
The event, which made £568, will contribute towards the £13,000 project to improve the venue, which has become a focal point for the community after the closure of its one remaining pub.
Organisers described the fair as a great success after its stalls, selling cakes and unwanted Christmas presents, proved a real hit with the public.
The fair on Saturday also featured an Easter bonnet competition, which had several winners ranging from babies through to adults.
Janet Dacey, chairman of Uley village hall management committee, said: "Uley is a friendly village and it's always good to get everyone together.
"We don't have a pub anymore so the village hall is very important to us. We are making progress though in our attempts to raise money and have quite a bit towards it.
"Every little contribution is welcome though."
The committee, which hopes to start building work in July, has been holding themed Sunday lunches to raise money.
The next event - a British summer lunch - will be held on June 4. For more information call 01453 860709.
