Dibden's derby day

Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One Cam Bulldogs 0 Kingswood 1

GAVIN DIBDEN struck the only goal of a tense game on Tuesday to give Kingswood their first derby win of the season.

Dibden capped his side's fine opening to the match by finding the net after 15 minutes.

A ball into the box caused panic in the Cam defence and, although one shot was repelled, Dibden followed up to drill in the opening goal of the game.

The Bulldogs did their best to respond and Danny McIntosh twice went close before Carl Bailey headed straight at Andy Rodman from a Loz Dorman cross.

Cam forced the pace in the second half but had to be wary of Kingswood's attacking talents on the break.

Nevertheless, it was the home side that had all the chances, although the same faults that might have cost them dear at the weekend were in evidence once again.

Dorman shot straight at Rodman after the goalkeeper had pushed the ball into his path in denying Pete Holder.

McIntosh then hit a flush volley from a corner but it hit a Kingswood defender square in the face.

However, it became obvious that it really was not going to be the Bulldogs' day when Carl Bailey lifted the ball over the bar from inside the six-yard box after Sean Clune's long throw had been flicked on.

The visitors rarely threatened Ben Jagger's goal in the second half but with Cam's finishing having gone to pot, they did not have to in the end.
