Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division Two Charfield 3 Mitcheldean 2
CHARFIELD completed their home fixtures with an excellent win over a resolute Mitcheldean side.
With the wind in the home team's favour, passes tended to be overhit towards a well-marshalled defence.
The game sprung into life on 25 minutes when Tyson Murray received the ball from Steve Spill and hit a swerving shot past a static goalkeeper.
The lead was extended ten minutes later as a poor defensive clearance was picked up by Lee Forristal, who hammered the ball home.
As half time approached, Paul Eldridge in the home goal pulled off a stunning save, tipping the ball over the bar, ensuring a first half clean sheet.
The changing of ends saw the advantage swing towards Mitcheldean and they soon got back into the match.
On 50 minutes, a free-kick to the far post was easily converted and the equaliser followed five minutes later.
Charfield rallied though and took the lead with a free-kick that had more than an element of luck about it.
Alex May ran over the ball, Forristal struck it and the ball ricocheted off May's back and past the goalkeeper.
Manager James Thompson was more than pleased with the win.
