Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One Kingswood 2 Cam Bulldogs 3
TEN-MAN Kingswood ran out of time as they attempted to come back from 3-0 down against local rivals Cam.
The Bulldogs had been cruising with 20 minutes remaining but two tremendous strikes brought the home side right back into the game and they were unlucky not to take an unlikely point.
Kingswood put more pressure on the visitors in the first half but found themselves 2-0 down and a man short at the interval.
Loz Dorman gave Cam a 12th minute lead with a shot across Andy Rodman after the hosts failed to clear a Pete Holder cross.
The home side might have replied soon afterwards but Barrie Dibden's low shot came back off the post and Gavin Dibden's follow-up flew across the face of goal with the lunging Adam Harber inches away from applying a finish.
However, on the half hour, Dorman played Joe Iatalese in at the other end and he was completely wiped out by goalkeeper Rodman as he tried to go round him.
Referee David Purser awarded a penalty and then sent Rodman off despite howling protests from the home side.
Defender Kevin Spill took over in goal but was easily beaten from the spot by Dorman.
Kingswood may have been down to ten men but they continued to work hard and the Bulldogs' patched up side failed to dominate as they may have wished.
Still, five minutes after the break, Cam went 3-0 up when Pete Holder burst through the middle to hold off several challenges and force a shot past Spill.
The game looked pretty much dead as a contest but Kingswood re-ignited things with 20 minutes to go.
The ball was worked into the left edge of the penalty area by the hosts for Paul Bleaken to hit a shot the flew off the outside of his boot and into the top corner.
Just two minutes later Kingswood scored again.
A corner was only cleared to the edge of the box where Gavin Dibden thumped a tremendous shot through a crowd and beyond visiting goalkeeper Keith Watson.
The final 15 minutes was nearly all Kingswood and it was debatable which side looked like they had ten men.
However, once Watson had saved a Gavin Dibden header low to his right, the Bulldogs had done enough to hang on.
