BERKELEY was full of swords crossing and muskets firing as the castle found itself under attack all in the name of entertainment.
Over the Bank Holiday weekend Berkeley Castle was taken over by a living history encampment, the Sealed Knot, where visitors could experience life during the English civil war.
The camp displayed examples of authentic cooking, casting musket balls, spinning and there was even a garrison practising their skill at arms.
Rachael Groom, Berkeley Castle events manager, said the visit from the Sealed Knot was a huge success and one the castle hopes to repeat.
She said: "The weekend was great. We had 2,500 people turn out and the weather could not have been better. What rain we did have cleared for Bank Holiday Monday.
"The Sealed Knot were last at the castle 30 years ago and it was a welcome return but now they have booked up to visit Spetchley gardens in August and hopefully they will return here soon."
Berkeley Castle is now preparing for the 50th anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award at the end of June.
