Full circle for play based on the gospels

FIVE Sides of a Circle returns, by popular demand, to the Tobacco Factory, Bristol.

This play, written by retired Rev Neville Boundy, played to full houses last year; and is back with one cast change only.

The writer, a very colourful local figure thoroughly involved with both the theatre and his love of the church, has brought alive the stories of the four Gospels from the New Testament of the Bible.

A young man Timothy visits the four gospel writers in turn, to ask them about their versions of the life and work of Jesus. Timothy learns much in his journey: separately the gospels help, but put alongside one another, problems arise. At last the four writers meet together, to explore their differences and try to resolve the contradictions.

By allowing the differences to be drawn out, it shows their relevance to us all today; and is interesting for those of all faiths, and also for those with none.

Five Sides of a Circle, a relevant, humorous and provocative play aims to bridge a gap or two. "I hope" said Neville, "that the play will have something to offer our divided world and the current disagreements in our society."

This is Neville Boundy's third play and follows the tremendous success of Father & Son: Son & Father.

Five Sides of a Circle, directed by Andrea Montag, is presented by many of the cast of the Tobacco Factory's recent production of Love's Labour's Lost.

Performances run from Tuesday, May 9 to Saturday, May 13. Tickets are available from the Tobacco Factory box office.
