Salford City Council have an urgent requirement for an INTERIM Press and PR manager for a busy team. The post will be for 4 months initially but is likely to extend. Key responsibilities are: To manage and lead the public relations service. To assist in the development of strategic public relations plans to support wider marketing and communications campaigns. To produce and implement strategic plans including managing agencies where appropriate. To write and prepare news releases, statements and representation on TV and radio programmes, and pro-actively identify opportunities for positive media coverage of the city and the City Council To assist and advise Members and Officers in dealing with the media and, as necessary, provide appropriate advice and training. To lead the smooth and effective day to day running of the public relations section devising appropriate management processes. To evaluate performance and devise processes to deliver performance data. To lead the operational work of the section To manage and develop public relations staff . To play a role in the management of the marketing and communications division as a member of the senior management team. To manage appropriate budgets. To promote the city and council locally, regionally and nationally. To ensure consistency in all communications to support brand values and key messages. To represent and promote a marketing and customer-focused culture through the organisation To undertake such additional duties as are reasonably commensurate with the level of the post. To monitor and effectively manage sickness absences of staff and deal with in accordance with the City Council's Attendance Management Policy. The post holder will carry out their duties with full regard to Salford City Council's Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety and Community Strategy policies.
