Hitchhiker robbed by gang of men

A HITCHHIKER was robbed on the side of the road by a gang of men, police believe.

A 24-year-old man was hitchhiking on the B4066 at Selsley yesterday evening at around 6pm when a car pulled up alongside him.

The victim was confronted by a number of males in a light blue car, possibly a Ford Fiesa or Citreon Saxo.

The man was pushed to the ground and police believe he was robbed of some belongings and also suffered a cut to the chin.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire police said: "The police helicopter was deployed to search for the car and shortly after 6pm a 17-year-old boy was arrested near Bull Pitch on suspicion of robbery. He remains in police custody.

"We believe a number of people were involved in the robbery and would like help in finding them."
