Body of elderly man is recovered from canal
THE body of an elderly man has been recovered from the Gloucester-Sharpness
canal in Frampton upon Severn.
It is believed the man is 76-year-old John Parker, from Frampton, who had been reported missing on May 1, but there has not yet been any formal identification of the body.
It is understood his wife spotted the body in the water and raised the alarm at about 1pm yesterday.
A spokesman for Gloucestershire coroner Alan Crickmore confirmed the death
has been reported and that a formal identification was awaited.
Meanwhile, it is hoped that the body of another elderly man recovererd from the River Severn at nearby Arlingham earlier this week can be officially identified today.
He is believed to be 93-year-old Cyril Holt from Hasfield, near Tewkesbury, who had been missing since April 24.
His body was found by canoeists in the river 13 days after his disappearance.
