Description

By the end of your training you'll have a keen appreciation of the role of learning and development in child care settings, and the legislative context in which child carers operate. You'll also have a good understanding of the skills child carers need to have, along with a good understanding of early education frameworks. This course is ideal for all students wishing to work within a Nursery or similar Child Minding environment. It covers the care of children and providing for children's development and learning needs through to the age of 16. On successful completion of the course you will receive a recognised Level 3 award (comparable to working at A Level or NVQ Level 3).

  • Principles for implementing duty of care in children and young people’s settings
  • Enable parents to develop ways of handling relationships and behaviour that contribute to everyday life with children

Awarding Body

NCFE is a leading UK awarding body recognised by the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.  Upon successful completion of the course assignments you will be eligible for the NCFE Diploma. 

Qualification

Gaining the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce from NCFE will really help to boost your job prospects. It will enhance your CV and help get you noticed by potential employers. It will also show that you are self-motivated and committed to your personal development. This course equips you with new skills and lays the foundations for a role within the Early Years or Childcare sector. You may also be able to gain employment in a mainstream Nursery or Reception class. This qualification will also help you in progressing onto higher level studies including Foundation Degree in Early Years Studies.

Course length

You should be able to complete the course within approximately 300 study hours. You will also be required to complete 10 assignments and undertake a 400 hour work placement as well as submitting a portfolio of evidence to show you've met the learning outcomes for each of the 14 modules.
