Deaf comedian to perform at festival

DEAFY'S Island Discs takes place at the Rondo Theatre, Bath, on Saturday (8pm) as part of the Bath Fringe Festival.

Britain's only deaf comedian (if there are any others, he hasn't heard), Steve Day takes to the road for his fourth national tour. Steve's previous tours have seen him perform from Penzance to Inverness, with notable sold-out shows in Copenhagen and Rome.

Having lost his hearing in his teenage years, Steve reminisces about the days when he could hear music.

In this brand new show - premiered at the 2007 Buxton Fringe and then taken to Edinburgh for a short run - he looks back at those tunes and those times.

He leads his audience on a barbed and very funny journey from The Beatles to Bob Marley - which songs would he take with him if he was marooned on a desert island?

In truth, it's less about the music and more about what it meant to him at the time, not to mention how those feelings have manifested themselves nearly 30 years on.

Steve's ability to find 'the funny' in everything means that even imbuing The Jam with Nostrodamus-esque powers isn't without a good handful of belly laughs.

Steve's warm, frank yet sharp sense of humour strikes a chord with audiences aged from 16 to 60.
