BEVERLEY Knight delivered a lively performance at the Colston Hall last night, November 27.
The Bristol concert marked the end of the singer’s UK Soul Tour, which included Ms Knight covering a range of tracks from the country’s soul music back catalogue.
Ms Knight had the packed auditorium on its feet right from the first chord of her hour and a half set.
The set included versions of Soul II Soul’s Fair Play, Jamiroquai’s When You Gonna Learn, Brand New Heavies’ Apparently Nothing and Heatwave’s Always and Forever.
Ms Knight kept the cheering fans waiting before she wowed them with energetic performances of her own hits Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda, Keep This Fire Burning and Come As You Are.
In dedication to her friend George Michael she also gave a show-stopping rendition of his hit One More Try as part of her encore.
The most impressive part of Ms Knight’s performance, however, must have been her five outfit changes, which unfortunately allowed the concert to lose its momentum at times.
The support acts were a mixed bag with Australian four-piece soul group Electric Empire, who kicked the show off with gumption, and 90s soul singer Omar, who struggled to engage the audience.
