THE Community in Wotton-under-Edge are invited to join in a free 18-hour entertainment marathon fundraiser at the Chipping Hall this weekend.

Musician Katie Elliot has organised the event on behalf of Under the Edge Arts and hopes that as many people as possible will come along to the event, which is being held to raise awareness of all the wonderful things that go on at the Arts Centre, and hopefully raise funds at the same time.

Katie Elliott herself will be kicking off the event at 6am on Saturday, March 26, leading the way for all the other performers and taster sessions which will take place during the day.

"We've invited the whole community to get involved this Easter weekend," said Katie.

"There are 24 different events, including lots of different kinds of music to suit everyon'e taste as well as a poetry event and a presentation by Wotton Heritage Centre. There's all sorts going on; we've even got some of the finalists from Wotton's got talent.

"I'm going to be at the Hall from 5.30am - it sounds early but it's going to be a really lovely way to start the day. And of course the Community Choir are going to finish everything off with a performance at 11pm, which is going to be worderful.

"We just want people to come and join in and feel really welcome."
