ARTIST Annabel Playfair will hold her inaugural exhibition at The Fosse Gallery, The Manor House, The Square, Stow on the Wold from Sunday, June 11 to Saturday, July 1.

Annabel was classically trained over five years at The City of Guilds of London, Chelsea Art School and Les Beaux Arts in Paris.

Having brought up four children she started painting full time three years ago and will exhibit around 40 canvases in the exhibition with prices ranging from £800 to £3,000.

Annabel paints mainly en plein air and in all weathers; the bracing wind and rain of the Cotswolds, the heat of the summer sun in Italy and Provence and in Devon and Cornwall.

In winter she paints still life paintings in her Warwickshire studio.

She said: 'My passion is colour and I love patterns and colour found in nature. I am naturally drawn to a purple field of borage or a field full of poppies. My first impression of the subject is what ends up on the canvas; I am always thinking of the moment'.

Subject matters vary from market scenes, olive groves and vineyards in Provence, seascapes include the view looking across at Port Isaac, another is of Lundy Bay, Cornwall.

Cotswold scenes are of bluebell woods in the Spring.
