THE latest art by Art Psychotherapists exhibition, Examined Expressions 2017, returns to the Lansdown Gallery in Stroud from April 3-9.

Whilst the artworks are not specifically about Art Psychotherapy, the artists’ profession informs the way they approach their art-making.

The exhibition showcases a diverse range of artistic styles including figurative, abstract and conceptually-orientated pieces, and the 12 artists come from four counties, Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Wiltshire.

Art Psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as a primary form of communication.

This approach is particularly useful for expressing and exploring complicated experiences, feelings and ideas.

Art Psychotherapists work with a wide range of clients with emotional, behavioural or mental health problems, learning or physical difficulties, life-limiting conditions, neurological conditions and physical illnesses.

The artists are Carl Arroyo, Ali Coles, Harriet Cookson, Hilary Forbes, Justine Glynne Jones, Fiona Harrison, Gill Horne, Suzanne Jones, Louise Luscombe, Helen McGuire, Saira Todd and Hazel Wilson.

  • The exhibition is at The Lansdown Gallery in Stroud.
  • Open on Monday, April 3 (2-5pm), Tuesday, April 4-Saturday, April 8 (10am-5pm) and Sunday, April 9 )10am-4pm).
