THE Subscription Rooms in Stroud welcomes Ian Redmond on Friday, to launch Stroud Nature 2017 with a talk on Gorillas, Elephants and Badgers.
Ian has been studying and working to conserve gorillas, elephants and other species for more than 40 years.
From his base in Stroud, he chairs the Ape Alliance, works closely with the Born Free Foundation on elephant and wildlife trade issues and set up the UN Great Apes Survival Partnership - but is probably best known as the man who introduced Sir David Attenborough to the mountain gorillas for the BBC series Life on Earth, and taught Sigourney Weaver how to grunt like a gorilla for her role in 'Gorillas in the Mist'.
He is now part of Team vEco, working to enable anyone to enjoy virtual safaris via www.vEcotourism.org and is a Patron of the Gloucestershire Badger Trust.
Following his talk, Ian will be sharing the stage with a panel of local environmental and conservation experts to discuss things global, national and local. There will be opportunities for the audience to put questions.
