THERE will be a series of events throughout July at the Museum in the Park in Stroud celebrating grasslands and meadows with photography, poetry and music, beginning with a Grasslands in the Stroud Valleys photographic exhibition.

The exhibition by Deborah Roberts opens on July 1, which is National Meadows Day.

Her work is primarily influenced by a love of the Cotswold landscape surrounding Stroud and is particularly inspired by the species rich limestone grasslands and meadows of this area.

Over the past 30 years there has been a decline in wildflower-rich limestone grassland.

The Stroud Valleys hold a large proportion of this remaining habitat and the exhibition highlights the work of local organisations helping to conserve these habitats and the managed grazing needed in order for wildlife to thrive.

The work also documents organic farming and is a celebration of the landscape of the Stroud Valleys.

  •  Grasslands of the Stroud Valleys: Photographic Exhibition by Deborah Roberts runs from July 1-30 at Museum in the Park, Stratford Park, Stroud. Open 10am-5pm daily. Closed Mondays.
