REGIA Anglorium Norman re-enactment weekend is taking place at The Abbey Grounds, Cirencester on Saturday, July 8 and 9 in The Abbey Grounds as part of the Abbey 900 celebrations.

The progamme includes Warriors weapon training in the arena at 10.30am followed by archery.

At 11.45am on both days there will be a parade through town and at 12.30pm the Arming of the Knight will be a demonstration of the clothing and equipment of a typical high class foot knight of the period.

This will be followed by a fashion parade.

A falconry display at 1-2pm will be followed at 3pm by a formal battle for Cirencester between Empress Matilda’s forces and King Stephen.

Post battle there is a chance to meet the warriors, wear a helmet, hold a shield and sword and meet the sweaty tired soldiers.

As well as other exciting activities for the whole family there will be food and drinks stalls at various times during the afternoon.

At all times during the day there will people manning all aspects of the Living History Exhibit so those who are not that drawn to the battlefield will have people and things to look and interact with.
