The Costa Blanca has them all, old towns, new towns, a skyline that could have been borrowed from Manhattan, and the piercing blue skies caused by long, hot summer days.
The Costa Blanca is situated half way down the eastern cost of mainland Spain, has a wonderful year round climate and holds excitement for the whole family. Package tourists have been attracted by cheap holidays to the Costa Blanca since the early 1960's when the short flight times and 320 days of sunshine tempted them to try overseas holidays.
The south of the region is home to Alicante, one of Spain's fastest growing cities, whilst further north the rocky coastline is dotted with traditional little fishing harbours. Sweet smelling orange and lemon groves litter the countryside and the succulent muscatel grape grows on sun kissed vines.
The first resort that usually comes to mind when you think of Costa Blanca holidays is Benidorm. The Puig Campana, or Bell Hill rises above and beyond the towering hotels of the town reminding you that even in the heart of Benidorm you are never very far away from nature.
A jutting promontory splits the old town from the new. Poniente is the older town and Levante the new, and where most of the major hotels are to be found. Benidorm holidays have it all when it comes to nightlife, Brit pubs, Irish bars, live music, magic acts, nightly hotel entertainment, karaoke bars, cabaret shows and drag acts, there really is something for everyone. During our winter months, the older generation are drawn to the balmy climate and mild temperatures, often booking long stay holidays to avoid the harsh British winter.
There are plenty of resorts to choose from in the area, but cheap holidays to Benidorm will often find you staying in the heart of the town.
The refined and more tranquil resort of Albir is just twenty minutes away from Benidorm so close enough to visit but far enough away to never even notice it's there. The beach here has a Blue Flag award so is perfect for families, or simply relaxing and topping up your tan. There are two children's playgrounds just nearby and plenty of wonderful ice cream shops to keep the younger family members happy. Water sports are readily available here as are tennis and squash facilities, there are also a number of world class golf courses in the area.
The Sierra Helada Mountains provide the perfect surroundings for keen walkers who will be treated to some fantastic views of Benidorm below.
Cheap holidays to the Costa Blanca are sometimes hard to come by as it is such a beautiful and popular holiday destination all year round. However, you might just find cheap holidays to the Costa Blanca if you time it right and go before the long stay winter holidaymakers get their cases packed and after the summer rush is over. Alternatively, visit in the spring time when the winter holidaymakers have left and before the summer season really kicks in.
