If you like to feel the burn in your stomach as well as on your skin, then holidays to Cancun are ideal for you. Mexico not only boasts sunny skies, powder-like, white coastlines and soaring temperatures, but its restaurants and markets offer sumptuous scents and sublime tastes. Original in their cuisine, Mexico can spice up the dullest of dishes and turn them into a party on your plate. After you've soaked up enough sun and plan to grab a bite to eat, whether you're planning to dine in a fine restaurant or plan on picking up a take-away from the market, the tastes will envelope your taste buds and you'll be guaranteed to return the next day.
As we all know, different cultures have different customs and Mexico is no different. Not wanting to offend the locals, follow these etiquette tips when dining and you shouldn't have any problems;
Keep both hands on the table at all times... never under the table!
Even if you're hungry, don't finish your meal... it's polite to leave some after a meal.
When you're finished eating, place the knife and fork across your plate with the handles facing to the right and the prongs of the fork facing down.
If you're lucky enough to be invited into a Mexican home for a meal, try to arrive around 30 minutes late... it's better to be late than early.
Wait until you are invited to take a seat... and make sure you sit where you're told.
As you travel across resorts in Mexico, you'll see that each region or city has its own speciality, be it enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas or tostadas. Filled with guacamole and bulging with salsa, if you prefer your dishes a little cooler, ask the chef to leave out the jalapenos!
Make sure you don't miss out on some of Mexico's original flavours if your holidays to Cancun are hotel based. Flag a taxi and ask the driver to recommend somewhere nice to eat, the chances are, he knows his stuff, and will hopefully recommend a locals favourite!
