ALTHOUGH the musical origins of Tredegar Town Band can be traced back to 1849, a formal organisation was not constituted until 1876 when financial support was pledged by local citizens, a decision that has subsequently seen Tredegar Town Band proudly represent their community throughout the brass banding world for 135 years.
The band is now firmly established in the upper echelons of the brass band world. Their title haul includes nine Welsh Championships, two British Opens, two All England Masters, two Grand Shields, four Pontins Championships, six Yeovil Championships as well as two podium finishes in the European Brass Band Championship.
The band’s reputation for its musical excellence and successful relationship with Musical Director, Ian Porthouse has led to performances at world leading venues. These include, Wembley Stadium for the UEFA Champions League Final, Symphony Hall, Birmingham, Sage Gateshead, The Royal Albert Hall, and this week - Stroud Subscription Rooms!
Tredegar Town Band play Stroud Subscription rooms on Sunday, March 29 at 3pm. Visit www.subscriptionrooms.org.uk for details
