BEAUTIFUL sounds from the States are being lined up for the newest Festival to hit the West Country this year: the Bristol Americana Weekend.
St George’s Bristol and Bristol Music Trust, the organisation that runs Colston Hall, are putting Americana music centre stage this July in a joint mini-festival which aims to present some of the best roots artists touring today.
Americana has experienced a purple patch recently, with critically acclaimed concerts including Roseanne Cash, The Handsome Family and Gretchen Peters at St George’s Bristol, while Emmylou Harris performed her landmark album Wrecking Ball at Colston Hall last May and more recently the Hall welcomed the renowned Transatlantic Sessions for its Bristol debut.
Highlights of the Festival include James Hunter, Larkin Poe, Police Dog Hogan, Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham, Mud Morganfield and The Coal Porters.
Tickets and more info on the event, which takes place on July 11 and 12, available at www.stgeorgesbristol.co.uk and www.colstonhall.org
