PAINSWICK Music Society’s 70th birthday season concludes on Saturday, May 9 with a concert by the outstanding young British violinist Jennifer Pike.

Jennifer shot to fame in 2002 when at the age of 12 she became the youngest-ever winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition. Her programme, for which she will be accompanied by her father, Jeremy Pike, is a most attractive one including works by Bach, Beethoven and Kreisler as well as The Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams, which she played last year at the televised service of commemoration for the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War One.
