THERE are two exciting concerts in the 'Music at St Mary's' 18th season and they both feature brilliant young prize-winning ensembles.

On Friday, June 5, St Mary's Church Kingswood will host Notus Winds, which comprises five London-based musicians, each holding full scholarships to the Royal Academy of Music (they graduate this summer). Twice finalists of the Royal Overseas League Chamber Music Competition in 2013 and 2014, they were the winners of the Elias Fawcett Award for Outstanding Chamber Music as a result of their performance throughout the competition. They also won the Nicholas Blake Ensemble prize at the Royal Academy, and were successful in competing to go to São Paulo, Brazil, for the Festival de Inverno in July. Last year, they were the winners of the Royal Academy's most prestigious competition, the Patrons Award and consequently were fast-tracked to give an evening recital at the Wigmore Hall in May 2014. Most recently they performed Sir Harrison Birtwistle's Five Distances for the composer's 80th birthday celebration BBC Prom Portrait concert, broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Later in the year, Friday 9 October the Jubilee Quartet will play.Their Kingswood programme is the charming Haydn Op.64 No.4, exciting Shostakovich No.3 and the ravishing Ravel quartet.
