THE Annual concert of the Dursley Male Voice Choir, which took place on Saturday, May 16, was one of the best – if not the best! – that we have ever known.

From the rousing introduction of ‘When the Saints go marching In’ to the heart-stirring finale of ‘How great Thou art’ it was an evening of sheer magic.

The choir was at its impeccable and professional best and there were many highlights. Guest soloist Mandy Starr enthralled us all with her beautiful voice and her rendition of ‘If I could only see the Rhondda one more time’, which she dedicated to the much loved and sadly missed Haydn Henry, who died in May 2014. Then finally she ensured that we were uplifted by ‘World in union’.

Altogether it was a varied and interesting programme, beautifully delivered by the Choir and their inspirational leader Barrie Cooper.

Dursley is indeed fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented group in its midst
