BRIGHTLY coloured musically-themed scarecrows have brightened the streets around Thornbury this week to herald the Rockhampton Folk Festival on 21 June, starting at 3pm.

As well as excellent music at the festival there will be top-notch local food, beer and cider, ice cream, children’s entertainment and morris dancing from ‘Ragged and Old’. Folk artists Rebecca Hollweg and Vervain will be complemented by an eclectic mix of music from the Welsh trombone quartet Bone Appetit, Caribbean flavour from the Panache steel band and a rarely seen duo of flute and marimba. As the sun sets the day will finish with a Ceilidh.

“After the huge success of the inaugural festival last year, we’re really excited about this year’s event” says organiser Chris White-Horne. “Tickets are selling very quickly and we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors to our village to share a great family afternoon in the Gloucestershire countryside."

Tickets are available online at rockhamptonfolkfest.org.uk or from Surroundings, St Mary's Street, Thornbury.
