LOCAL youth music ensemble Betar Brass has been on tour, taking their youthful enthusiasm for brass music to primary schools in the area.
The group of talented young musicians visited Christ the King Primary School in Thornbury, Tortworth Primary School and May Park Primary School in Bristol. Playing to special assemblies of children from Reception to Year 6, the players demonstrated their instruments to the younger children, answered their questions and played a short concert.
“I hope some of the children who saw us today get inspired to learn a brass instrument too," said trombonist Alistair White-Horne (13). “The children asked us some really good questions."
Betar Brass are the musical children, aged 10 to 15, of three families from the Thornbury area. The name comes from their initials - Ben White-Horne, Ellen O’Brien, Tom O’Brien, Alistair White-Horne and Richard Usherwood. On this tour they were joined by special guest Jemima Barnes and her double bass.
Betar Brass made its debut in 2013 and appears regularly in Thornbury and further afield.
