EWAN McLennan has come to be known as a guitarist at the very forefront of his generation, a troubadour that can move audiences with his passion and pathos, and a songwriter for whom social justice is still a burning issue. With three critically acclaimed albums and a BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award under his belt, as well as the plaudits he received after his TV appearance on the world famous Transatlantic Sessions, his latest work and touring is much anticipated.

This Autumn Ewan McLennan will be touring throughout the UK and beyond, performing the songs from his latest album, Stories Still Untold – widely received as his best work yet. As well as performing the favourites from his previous albums and collaborations, he will be airing a clutch of brand new, self-penned songs for the very first time.

Having learnt from and worked with both Martin Simpson and Dick Gaughan over recent years, it’s evident in Ewan’s guitar playing and in his music more generally that he has absorbed and inherited a great deal, and at first hand, from the older generation of ‘folk greats’ before carving his own unique path. His latest album ‘Stories Still Untold’ was another milestone in this respect.

More than ever this album cast Ewan in the role of storyteller, with each song pulling you in and spinning a new tale before giving way to the next – new songs and old songs, past and present, spanning several hundred years.

Expect all of this and more in Ewan McLennan’s live performances. Delivered with a subtle yet powerful and earthy passion and a rare skill on the guitar, this troubadour will enthral audiences with folk music that is at the same time unique and timeless.

Ewan McLennan plays Downend Folk Club on Friday, October 16. Visit www.downendfolkclub.co.uk for more details.
