THE Bad Dads are just that - four dads from Wotton-Under-Edge - but they have garnered something of a reputation on the local music scene
They were formed in Mark Tolfree's tool shed towards the end of 2012 to drink cider and play the blues. A few months later, they have moved the empty cider bottles off the gear, packed up the Land Rover, and unleashed their own unique sound upon the wider parts of Gloucestershire.
The band have a four piece line up led by Mark Tolfree on vocals and harmonica, Jason Titley on drums and percussion, Mike Powell on guitar and Andy Guy on double bass, vocals and percussion. The sound has an acoustic vibe, heavily influenced by the blues, but has elements of folk, bluegrass, jazz and rock and roll in there too. The set consists of mainly original material with some classic blues covers thrown in. The Bad Dads are also busy writing and recording new songs to add to the ever expanding set list. The Bad Dads are described as ‘aged and full bodied, like a good vintage cider’!
The Bad Dads are coming to the Oldridge Bar in Kingshill House, Dursley on Friday 23 October. For those who like a bite to eat, there will be a reasonably priced supper served in the bar from 7pm with the entertainment beginning at 8pm. There is no entry charge but the hat is passed around.
