SEVENTEEN-year-old pianist and Young Steinway Artist Thomas Nickell will make his much-anticipated UK debut with Cheltenham Symphony at Pittville Pump Rooms on Saturday, July 9.
Named ‘The American Mozart’ and labelled ‘a genius’ by Italian music critics, Nickell is rapidly garnering praise for his strong interpretations and insightful readings of some of the piano’s most demanding literature.
Amongst an innovative and diverse combination of works by Bach, Britten and Liszt, Nickel will also perform is own composition, Sonata No. 3 in C major. Characterised by a modern language, his works also have strong emotional sentiments consistent with a romantic spirit. As a composer, he has had his works performed in Europe, Asia and the United States and continues to distinguish himself as one of the rising stars of his generation.
