A CANDELIT performance by the European Union Chamber Orchestra (EUCO) will take place at the Stroud Subscription Rooms on Sunday, February 5 as part of their UK tour.

The EUCO will be joined by the world renowned pianist Angela Hewitt who has appeared with major orchestras internationally. The famous Canadian soloist’s recitals have gained her world-wide popularity.

In this vibrant performance you will hear the music of Elgar, Mozart, Haydn and Oxford-based composer Toby Young’s new piece, ‘Anthem’ with the Gloucester Academy Strings.

The performance will be held with the audience in candlelight to create a beautiful backdrop to the evening.

The event is part of a programme of events that the venue is committed to bring to the district.

Bev Tanner, interim manager of the Subscription Rooms said: “This is yet another extraordinary performance that we are bringing to the people of the area, without the wonderful facilities that the building offers to audiences and performers many people would have to travel a considerable distance to see world class performers such as these.

“We are committed to bringing a broad programme of events and musicians to our loyal local audience, and are delighted that tens of thousands of people from the area come through our doors every year to enjoy these shows”.

Other events lined up include Clare Deniz and Alan Brown's ‘The Romantic Dream’ on cello and piano and The Gloucestershire Youth Wind Orchestra and Gloucestershire Symphonic Wind Orchestra’s ‘Hitchhikers Guide to the Wind Band’.
