ST HELEN'S Church in Alveston is beginning its Spring season of concerts with the welcome return of BBC Folk award winners Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin on Friday, February 10.

With Phil and Hannah's music taking inspiration from many different and unusual styles and regions it seemed fitting to explore the wealth of diverse places that make up our island's rich and varied history.

The pair are set to play everywhere from ancient caves and Iron Age roundhouses through to reminders of our industrial past, such as Swindon's Steam Museum, and the Anderton Boat Lift in Northwich.

Amongst these diverse locations they are also coming to the warm and welcoming Victorian Parish Church in Alveston.

Phillip plays acoustic slide guitar with influences from India and the American deep south, and harmonicas which he custom builds to extend their range.

Hannah plays fiddle and banjo, she also writes and sings the well observed songs of days gone by.

The unique blend of their voices and array of instruments creates a fascinating and totally individual sound.

St Helen's Church in Alveston is an intimate venue with a lovely acoustic for their style of music.

Their performance at St Helen's last year was a real highlight so it is advised to get your tickets quickly as they are already selling well.

Tickets are £14 from Steve at steve.c.hitchins@gmail.com or by phone on 07760 991297.

Doors open at 7.30 for performance at 8pm. Licensed bar. All proceeds will support the work of St Helen's Church, a registered charity.
