ACCLAIMED singer- songwriter Philippa Hanna is set to perform at St Laurence Church in Stroud on Friday, February 10.

Philippa has opened stadium tours for acts including Lionel Richie, Anastacia, Leona Lewis, Wet Wet Wet, Rebecca Ferguson, Collabro and, in 2016, Little Mix.

She has grown from her roots in the Gospel scene and over four albums has offered music with a positive message that has touched the hearts of audiences the world over.

Her latest album, ‘Speed of Light’ was recorded in Nashville and its UK launch was held at The Convent in Woodchester last year. The album tackles the challenges of life head-on, offering listeners a message of hope in the face of adversity.

She has also published two autobiographical books, More (2008) and Following the Breadcrumbs (2013).

Born into a musical family, Philippa knew from an early age that that making music was all she wanted to do. Her music frequently draws upon her experiences of a turbulent youth and she aims to offer a positive message for fans.

Her links with Stroud continue with her manager based in Painswick where she regularly records. She also performed with her band at the 2012 Family Fun Day in Stratford Park.

This will be one of her last concerts in the UK before she moves to Nashville to live in the Spring.

Supporting Philippa will be the Beacon Gospel Choir, also based in Painswick, with a promise of Philippa and the choir performing some songs together.

The choir, who will be joined by a full band, performed at the Upton Blues Festival last year.

The concert is being held at St Laurence Church on Friday, February 10 and is being promoted by Stroud-based event charity Ignition Gloucestershire and the Stroud Sacred Music Festival.
