INFLUENTIAL rock band Hawkwind are set to return to Stroud in May, 35 years after they last played at the town's leisure centre.
The progressive, psychedelic and hard rock band will play the Subscription Rooms on May 18, with early bird tickets selling out within 24 hours.
Dozens of musicians and writers have worked with Hawkwind since their inception. Notable musicians to have performed in the band include Lemmy, Ginger Baker and Huw Lloyd-Langton.
With many original members included in the line-up for the Stroud gig including the infamous Dave Brock, this is a once in a lifetime chance to see legends of rock in the town.
Hawkwind are best known for the song "Silver Machine", which became a number three UK hit single in 1972, but they scored further hit singles with "Urban Guerrilla" and "Shot Down in the Night."
Some 22 of their albums charted in the UK from 1971 to 1993.
