CIRENCESTER Male Voice Choir is for the first time holding an ‘Open Rehearsal’ in Cirencester Parish Church.

It will take place on Monday, February 20 from 7.30pm and visitors will be able see and hear the choir being rehearsed by the music team.

Musical director Jules Addison and accompanist Tom Graff will lead the rehearsal and during the evening the choir will perform some of the music being prepared for forthcoming concerts.

There will be an opportunity for visitors to meet the team and members of the choir.

If anyone would like to join in or find out how to become a member they will be more than welcome.

Membership is open to gentlemen aged from 16 years of age upwards and support is available for beginners.

Musical knowledge, though an advantage, is not essential as learning is mainly by repetition – listen and learn.

The choir was founded in 2009 with the aim of promoting male choral singing and performances that would raise funds for charity.

Since its formation, the choir has raised thousands of pounds for local charities.

The repertoire includes a wide variety or music including many choir classics that are very familiar to modern pieces and some classic popular songs.

These have been performed as far afield as the Royal Albert Hall, Worcester Cathedral and Bristol’s famous Colston Hall.

For the coming season performances will take place at Malmesbury Abbey, Gloucester Cathedral as well as Cirencester Parish Church and other local venues.

For a taste of what it is like to enjoy the learning and performing experience and the real pleasure of singing in Cirencester Male Voice Choir make a date to visit on February 20 at 7.30pm.
