WYCLIFFE Choral Society’s Spring concert, on Sunday, May 14 in Stonehouse, features two local musicians as soloists.

Beth Hiatt from Pitchcombe who is in the 6th form at Wycliffe College in Stonehouse will be the soloist in Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto whilst Juliet Curnow from Ruscombe will sing the mezzo soprano solos in Mozart’s Vespers K339.

Beth started learning the clarinet when she was seven and also plays the saxophone and piano. She achieved a merit in Grade 8 on the clarinet in 2015 and was a finalist in the 2017 Rotary Young Musician Competition.

Juliet has sung many solos roles with English Touring and, whilst no longer pursuing a solo operatic career due to the demands of two young daughters, she still regularly performs in recitals and oratorios including a recent St Matthew Passion in Gloucester Cathedral.

Juliet will be joined in the Vespers by Mary Morgan (soprano), Roland Kitchen (tenor) and Stephen Foulkes (bass) and the programme is completed by one of the most popular choral works of the 20th century, Rutter’s Requiem which dates from 1985.

The conductor is Christopher Swain.
