NEW York City’s coolest band Fun Lovin’ Criminals are making their way to Chalford Hill this July for Chalfest, which organisers promise will be a community event like no other.

The band will be preceded by Toploader on the main stage, in this one day only not for profit festival.

Chalfest-The Party on the Hill, which is on July 22, has been organised with a simple premise in mind - have the community work together in putting on an event for all the family whilst giving the many groups within the area a chance to earn some much needed funds for their various charities and causes.

Each of the community groups, including local schools, churches and playgroups, has been allotted a space free of charge to raise their own funds.

Chalfest will also have three music stages, a children’s entertainment area, an arts and crafts marquee, food stalls, circus performers, bars, workshops and a silent disco.

As well as Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Toploader, Dick and Dom will be bringing their show during the day for children of all ages to the main stage.

The second stage, curated by The Prince Albert pub from Stroud, will feature up and coming bands playing everything from blues to country, jazz to pop.

All in all there will be 20 bands and performers over the three stages on the day.

There will be a range of culinary delicacies provided by local food vendors including Hobbs Bakery toasties.

As well as being a great day out and fundraiser, Chalfest gives people the chance to get involved, with children from local schools taking part in a competition to design the event logo.

And on July 8 there will be the Chalfest’s Got Talent Contest giving winners the chance to perform on the main stage at the event.
