A FUNDRAISER for the Grenfell Tower Disaster Fund is being held on Saturday, August 20 at the George Inn in Nailsworth.

A four piece traditional Irish folk band will provide the music playing traditional and contemporary Irish music.

The band, from Co. Clare, features singer Shona Blake, Claire Watts (flute and fiddle), Paul McCabe (singer and guitar) and Gerry Hegarty (singer and fiddle).

George Inn owner, Jane Bandeyver, said: "We like everyone else were incredibly upset by the horrific sights of peoples life’s and homes being destroyed and we wanted to do a small something to support the fund to help the victims try to rebuild their family and life.

"The locals in Newmarket are always exceptionally supportive of charitable events and we are sure this will be a very fun evening for a worthwhile cause."

Donations of £5 include a burger (meat or vegetarian).

  • 8pm-late.
  • The band will also be playing at The Amberley Inn (also owned by Jane) from 2pm on Sunday, August 20
