Hollywood stars will be under even closer scrutiny than ever at this weekend’s Academy Awards ceremony.
Every flaw will be exposed with Sony’s new 4K HD TV following their every move – and any make-up mistake amplified – so Aimee Adams, make-up artist to the stars, teamed up with Sony to share her tips on how to look good using three looks she believes Hollywood actresses will wear on the red carpet at this year’s Oscars.
Aimee, who has worked with Hollywood stars like Rachel Weisz and Sienna Miller, says increasingly advanced technology means stars must be careful with make-up.
“The advent of 4K technology means one thing for our Hollywood beauties, a spotlight on their imperfections! This makes the prep, as well as the actually make-up application, extremely important. This year’s Oscar nominees will certainly be relying on these techniques to keep them camera-ready this Sunday.”
1. Julianne Moore
Nomination: Best Actress, Still Alice
With the 4k camera, less is certainly more. Aimee predicts that Julianne will wear the classic red lip. She uses a creamy foundation with a powder on top. She then uses a cream foundation as a primer for the eye shadow before putting a liquid eyeliner and a shadow on top to soften the look. She then works on the red lips by layering a lip stain, lip liner and lipstick.

Urban decay 24/7 eye-shadow
Magic Lips Ultra Glow (red lipstick)
2. Felicity Jones
Nomination: Best Actress, The Theory Of Everything
Aimee predicts that Felicity will go for a heavier look with a classic black smokey eye. This still doesn’t mean she’ll be caking on that make-up! Aimee says the mistake people often make with a smokey eye is going straight for black; she recommends using brown. Aimee uses a mascara on the top and bottom lash and uses a gel eyeliner to create a 60s classic cat eye. She finishes the look with a neutral nude colour.

3. Rosamund Pike
Nomination: Best Actress, Gone Girl
Aimee goes for a golden girl look for Rosamund. She applies a mascara slightly darker than the model’s face to match her tanned body and then applies a golden eye shadow to the bottom lash. She then applies a neutral blusher and a nude lip colour to finish off. The look is very simple, but the effects are beautiful and would look great.

Aimee’s make-up tips
1.The brand doesn’t matter.
Aimee recommends mascaras and products from the pound shop. She says with make-up it is not about expensive products but about what works.
2. Prepping your skin before is very important.
The most important thing with make-up is making sure the skin underneath is taken care of properly. She also recommends using lash serum to stimulate growth.
3. You don’t need to cake it on.
Aimee says she gets a laugh out of seeing girls on the tube early in the morning with loads of make-up on – it just isn’t necessary to put that much on.
4. Contour with care.
Aimee says Kim Kardashian has a lot to answer for.
Aimee Adams has worked with Helen Mirren, Cara Delevingne, Rachel Weisz, Sienna Miller and more. 4K TV has more than eight million pixels – four times the detail of Full HD.
